Emilia Mišćenić, Dr. Iur. (Graz), LL.M. (Saarland), is associate professor at the Department of European and Private International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Rijeka (Croatia). She started her international scientific career at postgraduate masters study program at the prestige Europa-Institut of the Saarland University and continued at postgraduate doctoral scientific study program of the Faculty of Law, Karl-Franzens University in Graz. Upon completing the doctoral study programme, she published a scientific monograph in German entitled Gegenwart und Zukunft der Verbraucherkreditverträge in der EU und in Kroatien (LIT Verlag, 2010). For particular contribution of the monograph to the science she was awarded by the National Science Awards Committee of the Croatian Parliament with the Annual National Science Award for Best Junior Researcher in the field of social sciences in 2011. Her scientific work is internationally recognized by experts in European law, whereby a special recognition came by an express quotation of the Advocate General Trstenjak in the case of CJEU, C-453/10, Pereničová et Perenič. She has done her research at international scientific institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Law in Hamburg, the International and European Public Law Institute of the University of Tilburg, the Europa-Institut of the Saarland University, the Faculty of Law of the Karl-Franzens University and as a visiting professor she gave lectures at the Faculty of Law, Business and Economics of the Bayreuth University and the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Lille. In 2012, she received an Award from the Foundation of the University of Rijeka for her special contributions to scientific research and teaching activities and in 2013 she was selected by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports as one of the most successful research assistants in the country. She is one of the co-founders of the Global Legal Network, where together with Prof. Dr. Aurélien Raccah she published a co-editor book Legal Risks in EU Law – Interdisciplinary Studies on Legal Risk Management and Better Regulation in Europe (Springer 2016). She is the author of the first handbook of special value for the region on European private law Europsko privatno pravo (Školska knjiga 2019) and together with Prof. Dr. Silvija Petrić she published a monograph on consumer loans in Swiss Francs (CHF) Nepoštenost valutne klauzule u CHF i HRK/CHF kreditima (Narodne novine 2020).
